Our aim is to provide professional and effective clinical support and health promotion.  The practice manger, Mrs Helen Owens and dispensary manger Mrs Jill Leonard and their adminstrative team strive to promote a friendly and effcient service in supporting the clinical staff.

Trainee GPs and Medical Students

As part of our commitment to training, qualified doctors are based in the surgery on 6 monthly placements to continue their training.  Doctors who then wish to specialise as GPs continue their training for 12 months.  As part of this training process, consultations may be recorded but this will not be done unless written patient 42-16784622consent has been obtained before and after the consultation.

We have also become involved in the training of medical students from Keele University. This means that students may be sitting in with GPs during their surgery but you will always be given the opprtunity to decide whether or not you you are happy for the student to be present during the consultation.

The Practice Nursing Team

We have four nurses who can be seen by appointment.  You may also be seen by a nurse for assessment if you are requesting an urgent appointment with a doctor.  As some of our nurses have special areas of expertise, the receptionist may ask the reason for your appointment so that you can be directed to the most appropriate member of the staff.  Obviously, you have a choice  as to whether or not you ar prepared to divulge this information.

Our health care assistants Joanne and Charlotte are also invaluable members of the team providing support to the doctors and nurses.

Community Staff

Although the health visitors no longer work on site, we are fortunate that a team of community nurses (employed by Shropshire County Primary Care Trust) continues to work from the surgery.  We ask that patients who are able to come into the surgery should do so whenever possible.

Attached Staff

We have several attched staff, including Counsellors Sue Pearson anf Jackie Earle; chiropodist Elizabeth Robinson; midwives from the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Hospital run a weekly antenatal clinic.  Physiotherapists from the Robert Jones Hospital also provide an initial assessment service.

Samantha Leopold rents a room from the surgery and offers private osteopathy appointments.
